What an awesome book! I loved it and it is just what beginner?s need easy, concise, and informational. I love the title. As a self proclaimed lazy gardener I can relate to it.
The book takes all the intimidation factors out of gardening such having large pieces of power equipment to work the soil, lots of money for plants, lots of time for weeding, lots of time for watering (money too for some) and giving people the OK to use native plants in their gardens.

I think your book will be an excellent reference for beginning gardeners. I found it very accessible and easy to read. I liked your conversational style toward the reader and found your examples and descriptions to be quite vivid. You let the reader know that there is a world of information out there without intimidating lists of instructions and requirements. I also appreciated that your tone encourages gardeners to use native plants without implying that the garden full of non-natives is "bad" or morally wrong. If you have stuck with it this far, you DESERVE something for your determination! So here are a few little tips that will help keep your plants alive and healthy. Tip #1 might seem obvious but you would be amazed how many gardeners don't think of it.
Bonus Tip #1: Don't forget the dirt !!!
If you are buying "potting soil" at your garden center, or even a bag of something called "earth", the material is most likely waste from a lumber yard. In other words, the material is about 95% organic (as in "wood") with essentially no mineral soil. This highly organic material lacks plant nutrients that would normally be found in the mineral component of soil, so you will have to also buy fertilizer. Seems like someone has a plan here doesn't it?
One of the major drawbacks of this type of organic "soil" is that it resists moisture when it dries out and it becomes difficult to water. Mixing it with dirt reduces this watering problem as well as providing plant nutrients that also reduce yo
